Aston Martin Celebrates With Auto-txt
COVENTRY, England, July 24
Customers of both the award winning Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage now have the option of having Auto-txt as the basis of security and car tracking for their car.

The announcement follows a celebratory initiative by Aston Martin in which an Aston Martin V8 Vantage was driven for 30,000 miles in 30 days by 30 employees - all successfully tracked by the Auto-txt system - to commemorate Aston Martin's 30,000th production car.

The news that Aston Martin has chosen Auto-txt follows the decision by Jaguar Cars and Land Rover to use the technology as the basis of their recently announced Jaguar Watch and Land Rover Watch security systems.

Auto-txt is a big step forward in the battle against car theft and was the first stolen vehicle protection and tracking system to have been awarded Category 5 accreditation by Thatcham, the motor industry research centre. Key features of Category 5 include a way of identifying the driver in addition to possession of car keys and the means to disable a vehicle that has been stolen, remotely from a central control centre

Jim Hammond of the Association of Chief Police Officers said, "Category 5 is now the only stolen vehicle theft standard that is both supported by the insurance industry and conforms to police policy."

Auto-txt, which is currently also available to all car owners as an aftermarket product and has the unique feature of integrating vehicle security with the mobile phone, has been developed by RDM Group, a Coventry based designer of electrical, mechanical and trim related systems for the automotive industry.

Chris Cole, Engineering Director of RDM Group said: "Aston Martin is synonymous with classic design and high performance and their use of Auto-txt demonstrates a commitment to choosing the best new technology.

"Winning a contract with Aston Martin is fantastic news for Auto-txt. We are continuing to evolve the product and aim to set the standard for stolen vehicle security for years to come."
